  • Outer Space Art
    During the 1950s and through the 1970s, a Tennessean by the name of Robert E. Gilbert created literally hundreds of science fiction art pieces that saw publication in science fiction magazines. Due to the limited printing techniques of these magazines, most of his works were done in pen and ink. But he also did a significant amount of work in oils, pastels and even watercolors. Additionally, he did a large body of art that was not part of the science fiction genre. His total portfolio spans from the 1940 through the 1980s. read more


  • Asimov Was Astounding
    Isaac Asimov (1920-1992) was one of the most prolific authors of all time. His body of work encompasses over 500 books plus as many as 9,000 letters and postcards. Born in Russia, he immigrated to the United States at the age of three with his Jewish parents. Growing up on the streets of Brooklyn, Isaac taught himself to read and write at the age of five. He was fluent in both English and Yiddish. He attended public schools in New York City and Columbia University, graduating in 1939, at the age of 19. read more
